IS LIFE VAIN AFTER ALL?!
Oh mother earth to whom all human beings shall return, why should we mortals continue to tread upon thee with pride, pomp and pageantry! Man is only but dust, his days are few and brief, like grass, like flowers, blown by the wind and gone forever. For the length of man’s life is as uncertain as the morning fog – now you see it; soon it is gone!
For there is one fate for both man and beast……. As the one dies, so dies the other. The same breath is in all of them, and man has no advantage over the beast; for everything is vanity. All go to one place; all are from the dust, and all return to the dust who knows that the spirit of man goes upward and that the spirit of the beast goes downward to the earth?……….
I considered once more all the oppressions that are practiced under the sun; for example, the tears of the oppressed, with none to comfort them. So I congratulated the dead who were already dead, rather than the living who are still alive. And happier than both of them did, I regard him who had never been, who had not seen the wicked work which is done under the sun………
And so, I have seen wicked men carried to the tomb and praised from the holy place and lauded in the city where they had acted thus……..
There is a vanity which is wrought upon the earth, namely, that there are righteous men to whom it happens in accordance with what should be done to the wicked, and there are wicked men to whom it happens in accordance with what should be done to the righteous…. I say that this too is VANITY.
The conclusion of this matter, all having been read is “fear God and keep His command. For this concerns all mankind that God brings every work into judgment with regard to act being concealed, whether it be good or evil.”
My priest in the Lord, ruminate over all I have expressed and use then as a scale of measure for what has just transpired between us at your Lagos residence. One thing however should be well borne in mind and this is: “whether ye eat or drink or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God” this is the yardstick with which every true Christian should employ to measure his or her daily religious activities under the sun. I consistently employ this yardstick to measure all my daily activities and that is the reason why I bath daily in the blood of Christ Jesus.
As for myself I am unshakable in my faith in God. Though the angry surges roll on my tempest driven soul, I am peaceful for I know wildly though the winds may blow; I have an anchor safe and sure that can ever more endure. And it holds, my anchor holds; blow your wildest, then o gale on my back so small and frail. By the grace of the sacrificial Lamb, I shall not fail, for my anchor firmly holds.
Let everybody examine his or her ways………
I pause meanwhile even though, I would not be favoured with any reply…………….
