DON’T LOOK!

Sexual immorality is not a new thing in today’s society, and it isn’t a new thing in the church, either. Given how sexual sin is exalted in today’s world, one could believe it’s a normal thing for everyone to do. It has become so bad that if you don’t commit this sin, people will stare at you as if you’re insane. You may think they should mock you for being pure and holy, but instead they will criticize you and call you names. This is how society has devolved, and it has infiltrated the church.

People are turning a blind eye to immorality in the church of Christ today because they don’t want to be perceived as too pious. Today, we tolerate these behaviors in churches to the point that individuals walk inside the church and perpetrate these crimes alongside church members and even church leaders.
Fornication or adultery are examples of sexual sins.

Sexual immorality all originates with the eyes, and you must understand that what you focus your eyes on might influence the next minute, day, or month. Your eyes have the power to direct your next move.

Many are unaware of the power of the eyes; we frequently discuss the tongue and assert that it is powerful; we assert that the heart and intellect are powerful. However, we overlook the eyes. The eyes are the body’s light. What you look at determines what your body, mind, and brain will work on or towards. If you spend your time lustfully staring at another guy, or if you look at photographs of indecent women on the internet, you are inviting the spirit of lust into your life.

And once the spirit of desire has taken root in your life, it will not go quietly. Satan never relinquishes control of any fortress. He isn’t going to give up any of the ground he has gained. This is why so many people fight with porn for 5, 10, 20, or even 30 years in secret; once Satan has a stronghold, he will not relinquish it.

Your eyes are extremely strong, since they are linked to your brain and thoughts. This is what led David to sin when he awoke in his bed and walked outside the palace, where he saw Barsheba bathing (the bible did not just state that he glanced… But when David saw her, he physically observed her, focusing on her nakedness; even if David tried to flee the scene, his eyes had already seen Barsheba naked, and his brain had already recorded what he had seen, so he fixated on her. 2 Samuel 11:2 “And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king’s house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.”

If the eye and the intellect are already functioning together, sin is already banging on the door of once existence. The door to fornication is already open. Adultery is already on the doorstep. Masturbation has already entered the picture.

I’d want to know what you’re viewing, what you’re looking at, and what you’re focusing your gaze on. Are you allowing lust to enter your life?

This warning was sent by Jesus, and you must pay attention to it. Matthew 5:27-28 “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”

Look, you haven’t committed adultery until you’ve slept with them; you’ve committed adultery the moment you started lusting for them. David’s wickedness did not begin when he summoned Barsheba; it began when he gazed at her and saw her as lovely.

After your eyes have seen it, your mind will register it, and your brain will retain it. The next step is to act on it. David pursued Barsheba and had an affair with her.

You find young people who are unable to avoid sexual sins, who quickly succumb to them, and who see fornication as a natural part of life. This is due to what they have witnessed. They now have the chance to take action. They will never want to squander it, because if immorality has been hidden in their hearts for a long time, it will eventually surface, and they will act on it. People commit adultery not because they woke up one day and decided they wanted it, but because it is something that has grown up in them; fornication is now a normal occurrence, and people don’t seem to mind the consequences; people don’t seem to mind what will happen to them. They don’t give a damn about the consequences of their own behavior; all they want is to partake in the wicked deed.

You are a child of God, and just because others are doing something doesn’t mean you have to. You are not permitted to consume these terrible things that people refer to as pleasure; this is not pleasure, but rather the route to ruin. You don’t want to be purnished for that behavior… the purnishment for adultery and fornication is severe, as is the purnishment for sexual immorality.

This has a spiritual significance that goes beyond what you can perceive…1 Cor. 6:16 “What? Know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh”.

If you commit adultery or fornication, you have effectively connected yourself to the person with whom you slept.

The fact about sex is that it unites two individuals. When you sleep with different individuals, you share yourself with each of them, and you now have a relationship with each of them. Whatever impacts them spiritually now has a way into your life. You’ve become one with that individual, and you’ve made a public pronouncement that me and that person are now one.

All of this person’s spiritual issues will be shared with you; you will no longer be carrying your own troubles alone; you will now be bearing the problems of others as well. Take a look at the lives of those who were fornicating; you could assume they were wealthy or that they were leading a happy life. The fact is that they are bearing the burdens of others.

This is why one-night stands are so risky; you have no knowledge of the person’s background or family history, and you don’t even know their last names. Hmm, I think they’ll merge into one. These individuals have banded together with a large number of others and are now bearing the burdens of others’ concerns.

Have you ever done something like this before? Look around and you’ll see that you’re having some issues that you’re not sure how you got them. Things will go so horrible for you that you will have no idea how it got that way; the fact is that you have combined two people’s issues into one flesh. You may not believe it, but it is true. You are merging with the person with whom you sleep with. If you’ve committed that error, you’ll need to pray to break the link. You must pray diligently in order to sever the tie between you and whatever is causing you problems.

There is this story of a young man who was successful in business found a young girl who was all he wanted in a lady; they began dating and began sleeping with each other within a week of meeting each other. They don’t even know each other’s names. Within a week, this young man’s income began to decline; he had no idea what was going on; nothing had changed, and he was still working as hard as before. He began to work more hours, but his earnings did not grow. Moreover, all he worked for was going to waste till he had to shut down his business. They finally broke up, and his income began to grow again, return back to where it had been and exceeding his former earnings. He reunited with this lady after a month, and guess what? The same thing occurred again. That’s when he realized what was causing his problem: whenever he committed adultery with this lady, things would start to go wrong for him.

There are spiritual ramifications to joining yourself to others.
Sexual sin is related with messes, humiliation, regrets, guilt, difficulties, and challenges.

Looking back at David’s story, he went through a lot. He got the lady pregnant first, then had to find a method to avoid being held accountable for the pregnancy, so he killed her husband and was punished for it. David was embarrassed by all of this, and he regretted it.

There are individuals who find themselves in situations they don’t want to be in, or in relationships they don’t want to be in; they want to leave but can’t because they are bound to that person. They struggle after realizing it’s all sin, so they make a shift.

Since the devil and flesh do not want you to return to a pure life, the battle to be released shifts from physical to spiritual, and we must recognize that we are no longer battling in the physical realm. Ephesians 6:12.

To get out at this point, you’ll need God’s help. To fight and win this struggle, one must put on all of God’s amour. Eph6:13-18.

You can’t combat sexual immorality on your own, and you can’t get out of it on your own. You need Jesus’ aid to get out of the mess you’ve created, which is why you must accept Jesus into your life.

The world may have compelled you to join them, but don’t allow them to keep you there. I encourage you today to battle against what you are seeing, to be vigilant with what you are viewing, to defend your eyes, to protect what you are looking at, and to eliminate everything that attempts to lead you astray. If it’s viewing particular movies or television shows, stop doing so.

Due to their eye, greater men and women than you and I have fallen. Job 31:1 ” I made a convenant with mine eyes, why then should i think upon a maid”.

If you can’t control your gaze, you have a serious problem with the lust of the eye. If you can’t control how you stare at the opposite sex as a man or woman, you’ll be a victim of the Lust of the Eyes. Job made a vow with his eyes to never stare at a maiden’s nakedness.

We all know we can’t walk about with our eyes closed since it’s not practical; yet, there’s a difference between strolling and someone catching your gaze. You don’t have to remain, you don’t have to keep gazing; just get on with your business.

Why do you need to look a second, third, or fourth time, or for such a long time? Look away! That is the first practical step; simply don’t look… You may agree with me that there are different types of looking; when you are driving, walking, or going about your business, you are looking… but there is another type of looking when you are lusting after someone; that is what I am saying don’t do. You know the kind of gaze that makes you want to play different scenarios in your head? Every act of fornication began with someone looking, and every act of adultery began with someone looking. It simply takes you seeing and wanting; that is the gateway that the devil, the spirit of lust needs.

That expression! The Bible says in Ephesians 4:27. “Neither give place to the devil”.   Don’t bother looking.
Remember that lust causes people to make rash judgments. The risk of desire is that it causes individuals to make judgments they later regret. People who are possessed by the spirit of desire make decisions that they know are harmful. I’m talking about what We all know; that playing with another man’s wife is never a good idea, yet David knew that and still did it. Why? Passion causes individuals to make irrational judgments.  Due to lust, people wreck beautiful marriages. Due to lust, people marry individuals they shouldn’t.

I am confident that I am not lying today. Apart from devoting their lives to Christ, the person you marry is the most crucial decision you will make; but, the spirit of Lust will lead you to marry the wrong person. People who are enslaved by lust will spend money that they should not be spending. Now, I’m going to ask you a question, and I don’t want you to answer aloud… has lust ever led you to make rash decisions?
